Where is Chumphon?

Chumphon is located in the south of Thailand, 467 km from Bangkok.

Chumphon is on the Isthmus of Kra, the narrow land bridge connecting the Malay Peninsula with the mainland of Thailand.  To the west are the hills of the Phuket mountain range and its northern continuation, the Tenasserim Hills, while the east is the flatter land on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand. The main river is the Lang Suan River, which originates in Phato District.

With a 222-kilometre-long coastline and 44 islands, the Chumphon Archipelago, Chumphon has waterfalls, peaceful beaches, green forests, mangroves, and rivers. Chumphon has yet to have become overrun by mainstream tourism and still offers and old school charm long lost in many of Thailand’s other coastal provinces.

Chumphon Airport is located 30km north of Chumphon City in the Pathio District. It has two direct daily flights to Bangkok's Don Meueng Airport - (DMK). Flights from Bangkok are around 50 minutes in duration and depart early morning and late afternoon daily. The airport is located just five minutes away from the unspoilt beaches of Pathio and offers direct access to the extensive island archiapelago along the coastline of Chumphon.  A High Speed Catamaran service is also available to the popular island destinations of Ko Tao, Ko Pan Ngan and Ko Samui.
